Eligibility

  • Veterans with physical conditions (such as chronic illnesses or injuries) and mental health conditions (like post-traumatic stress disorder) that developed before, during, or after service may qualify.
  • It covers both service-connected disabilities (those caused or aggravated by military service) and presumptive disabilities (conditions presumed to be related
    to service).

Disability Ratings

  • The VA assigns a disability rating based on the severity of your service-connected condition.
  • VA ratings range from 10% to 100% in increments of 10%. The higher the rating, the greater the compensation.
  • The rating determines the amount of monthly compensation you receive.
